Hull City goalkeeper has played his last game for the club

Hull City goalkeeper David Marshall is set to leave the club this summer.

The Scotland international’s contract at the KCOM Stadium expires in June and he is expected to leave for free, according to a report by Hull Live.

The 33-year-old has been the Tigers’ first choice ‘keeper in this campaign but George Long will play the remaining games of the season meaning Marshall has played his last game for the club.

Marshall joined Hull in August 2016 from Cardiff City but was mainly used as their back-up ‘keeper in his first two campaigns at the club. He then became Nigel Adkins’ first choice when Allan McGregor departed for Rangers over the summer.

The Scotland international has played a key part in Hull’s rise up the Championship table over the past couple of months.

Marshall is a vastly experienced goalkeeper at this level and is a key asset for Hull. He has played over 450 games in his career to date with the likes of Celtic, Norwich City, Cardiff and the Tigers.

Hull boss Nigel Adkins has admitted he is set to depart this summer: “David is out of contract. I’d like him to stay but we’ve got a lot of players who are out of contract who I’d like to stay. David, like several of the players, is going to be a great Bosman. Whether or not we can afford to keep them is another issue.”

The Tigers travel to Swansea City on Saturday before ending the season at home to Bristol City on the final day.
