Leeds United make move for League Two attacker – available on free transfer

According to a report from Football Insider, Leeds United have made a move for Forest Green Rovers attacking midfielder Reece Brown, who is out of contract at the end of the season.

Forest Green Rovers’ attacking midfielder Reece Brown is out of contract at the end of the season and Leeds United are alongside Championship opposition in the race for his signature.

Championship duo Bristol City and Reading are reportedly interested in the 23-year-old as well, but it is Leeds United who have made the first move to try and secure Brown’s signature.

Brown has impressed massively with Forest Green over the course of the season, providing 10 goals and 14 assists in all competitions. His performances have helped Forest Green secure a place in the League Two play-offs with two games to spare.

The former Birmingham City youngster is free to negotiate a deal with a new club and will only cost a small compensation fee, making him one of the best possible bargains for football league clubs.

Brown spent his youth career in the academy at Birmingham City, who he joined at the age of just 10. He went on to spend seven years with the youth sides at St Andrew’s before making his debut in September 2013. The former England youngster endured loan spells with Notts County and Chesterfield in 2014 and 2017 respectively.

Before the 2017/18 season, Brown made the move to Forest Green. Since joining the club, the midfielder has gone on to make 88 appearances for the club, netting 13 goals and providing 18 assists along the way (Transfermarkt).
