Forest Green Rovers defender wanted by Swansea City and Huddersfield Town

Forest Green Rovers will face a battle to hold onto defender Nathan McGinley this summer.

He is a target for Championship sides Swansea City and Huddersfield Town, according to a report by TEAMtalk.

McGinley, who is 22 years-old, is also on the radar of Bristol City and Nottingham Forest as well after impressing in League Two last season.

The 6ft 3inc defender initially on loan last summer but the deal was made permanent in January. He played 46 times in all competitions for Mark Cooper’s side in the last campaign and helped them get into the fourth tier Play-Offs.

McGinley was born in Middlesbrough and joined his local side Boro as a youngster. He rose up through the youth ranks at the Riverside and made his first-team debut in a League Cup tie against Notts County last August.

He made three more appearances for the North-East side and had a loan spell at Wycombe Wanderers before joining Forest Green.

Swansea are in the hunt for some signings this summer with their new boss Steve Cooper eager to put his own stamp on his newly inherited squad. McGinley, who can play at either centre-back or left-back, would add more options and depth to the Swans’ defence.

Huddersfield have also been credited with an interest and are close to signing Forest Green midfielder Reece Brown. Could they try and bring McGinley to Yorkshire now as well?
